If you’ve been wondering where we disappeared to these past two months, the answer is simple: on vacation. This is Europe, after all! (Spoiler alert: the adventure wasn’t just about vacation — more in the journal entry).
With a new season (hello, fall), comes a new voice behind these Magic Journals — mine.
And now, on to the fun part: wine. If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you already know that this summer was filled with Magic Wine events in Forte and Megève. These evenings have become our signature gathering, one of our community’s favourites. It’s also where you’ll most often spot my father Alfredo.
So how do these evenings actually unfold? Let me take you through it.
We say we start around 8… but in true Italian fashion, things might run a little late. Part of the charm is the spontaneity. We begin with an aperitivo — small bites and a sparkling or lighter wine to set the mood. This is the moment where familiar faces reappear, new ones join, and connections begin to spark. By the time we move to the dinner table, glasses have already been raised, conversations started and laughter is in the air.
At the table, you’ll find your name card. Sometimes you’re seated next to an old friend, other times a new acquaintance, or even a complete stranger who soon won’t feel like one. Because these dinners are intentionally intimate, everyone ends up interacting as the night unfolds. The menu always pairs beautifully with the wines — it has to. And while sometimes the tastings are blind and other times the labels are revealed, the wine always surprises us. No bottle ever ages in quite the way you expect.
These nights are layered: moments of guessing, bursts of laughter, quiet pauses of reflection, friendly competition when someone guesses the wine before you. Wine has a way of being relational in every sense — between you and yourself, between you and others, and between you and the glass in front of you. It engages your senses, but also stirs emotions, memories and connections. Our events live in that space. Yes, they are about the wine itself, but also about everything that happens around it.
And perhaps the most magical part? Many of our guests travel between different Magic properties, weaving together not just unforgettable evenings, but a true community. One that loves and cares about wine deeply — and about sharing it with one another.
